Charges are applied per conversation, not per individual message sent or received.
Conversations are 24-hour message threads between you and your customers. They are opened and charged when messages you send to customers are delivered. The criteria that determines when a conversation is opened and how it is categorized is explained below.
Conversation-Based Pricing
Charges apply per conversation, not per individual message.

Conversations last for 24 hours, beginning when your message is delivered to the customer.
Conversation Categories
1. Marketing: Used for promotions, new product announcements, and reminders such as cart abandonment.
2. Utility: Follow-up actions like order confirmations, delivery updates, account alerts, and surveys.
3. Authentication: Verifies users with one-time passcodes during account setup, recovery, or login.
4. Service: Addresses customer inquiries through free-form messages.
Opening Conversations
Marketing, Utility, and Authentication: These conversations start with template messages. If a conversation of the same category is already open, no new conversation is started.

Service: Starts with free-form messages when no other conversation is active.
Free Tier
Each WhatsApp Business Account receives 1,000 free service conversations monthly. This resets at the start of each month.

Free tier does not cover marketing, utility, or authentication conversations.
Free Entry Point Conversations
These conversations start if a customer messages you via a Click to WhatsApp Ad or a Facebook Page Call-to-Action button and you respond within 24 hours.
The conversation lasts 72 hours, allowing free messaging within this time frame.
